Ikemen

Interesting ad in the Hankyuu Umeda train station the other day...

Apparently there's a new TV show called, basically, "Cool Guy Paradise."

(No, I didn't watch it.)

Tanabata & 5000

Last weekend was the holiday Tanabata in Japan. Japanese people put up bamboo and hang fancy paper decorations on it. Then they write their wishes/hopes/dreams on pieces of paper and tie them to the bamboo.

In the basement of the Hep 5 department store in Osaka, they had one set up for the public to use. I wrote a wish down, too. Mine said "いいしごとをみつけるように".

I took a picture of the tree when I had finished. I tried to wait until the people left, but the longer I waited the more people came to write their wishes...

When I opened up this picture to send to my photo blog file, I noticed something. The filename my camera automatically assigned to this picture was DSC05000.

That means that this is officially the 5000th picture I've taken with my camera.

...wow.

What do you need?

(Hep 5 is a big shopping center in the middle of Umeda.)

Kitty Building

This is part of Umeda in Osaka...the building with the kitty on top is the Namco arcade.

I love Japan :) Where else in the world would I be able to find a building in a major downtown area with a giant kitty on top?

Hi Mom!

I took this picture right before Mother's Day, then forgot that I had it. This was a store window display in Osaka. I thought it was cute so I'm posting it despite the fact that Mother's Day is long gone...

Stores and Sidewalks and Ferris Wheels, oh my!

No bears, though. (Ironically enough, there was a lion in the picture taken across the street...)

Lion Channel, take 2

The front of the TV station building, complete with big balloon mascots. A cookie Mochi for anyone who can guess what number channel it is (of course, anyone living in Japan is not eligible :p)

By the way - the sign with the lion guy in the airplane says "Anytime, Anywhere, Lion Channel."

Lion Channel

This is downtown Umeda, in Osaka, right outside of the Lion TV station (which happens to have a Tully's Coffee in the same building...ah, it feels like home).

I wandered around Umeda for a while today...it was nice. I spent too much. I probably shouldn't wander randomly around Umeda very often.

Train Station

Hankyuu Umeda train station in Osaka. It's always crowded, usually worse than this...this was taken Monday night.

There's a bookstore in the background, too!

Start!

So I've been thinking for a while about starting a photo blog of Japan - posting one picture a day, every day, until I leave. Here goes!

My first picture is from the Clever Cafe (though I think they might have meant "clover," judging from the store logo) in the underground of Umeda in Osaka. Their mugs all have cute kitty pictures! You can also see the shoppers walking by in the background.
