Butterfly

...it's a huge metal butterfly!


There's a park near my school that has a butterfly museum. Or garden. Or whatever you call it. A big greenhouse-type building filled with butterflies.

I haven't actually gone inside yet, but I walked up to the entrance once and took a picture of their butterfly statue on the way.

There were also a couple (very tame) muskrats.

Nature?

It *looks* like a secluded natural setting...but the road was only about 20 feet behind me when I took the picture.
Bamboo is nice though.

The Scariest Tanuki Ever

I ride by this tanuki every day on the bus to and from school.

It's even scarier when it's dark. Those big eyes? They glow. Red.

Elections

These signboards appear all over the place before an election. I assume each poster is for a different candidate...I'm still not sure exactly how it works. But since I can't vote here anyway I guess that's okay.

Koyaike Park

Yesterday after school I wandered over to Koyaike Park to take pictures. Someone had told me it was a good place to find cherry blossoms. They were wrong.

It was a good place to find birds though. Lots and lots of birds. In fact, so many birds that I worried about sanitation issues (for both the birds and the crowds of people hanging out in the park nearby...let's hope no one gets bird flu :p )


This was my favorite bird picture. Something startled a flock of pigeons, and I got my camera up just in time to catch the moment they all flew by me.

Pigeons were not actually the main avian species present, though. There were ducks and swans and herons and various other waterfowl in the big lake...the crows might have been the most numerous, though.
